Keynote speaker Marcus Buckingham was powerful. I found his speech motivating, inspirational, and true! Whenever I am teaching something I enjoy with people that share the same interest, the energy becomes infectious. Participation and interest increase tremendously.
I have noticed this phenomenon occurr while teaching. I especially love teaching group fitness classes with adults. This is my "sweet spot". I have many years of experience in this area. I feel comfortable and confident. I have found teaching in this capacity is so rewarding, because the people who attend my class "want" to be there and are "like-fitness" minded. They enjoy being pushed and welcome it.
Teaching younger elementary age children is another one of my strengths and passions. This age is willing to try anything and to try their best. Lower grade school age children want to "please the teacher". This age group is so fun!
This is in contrast to teaching middle age students. In my experience, only the majority of the athletic students want to participate fully in P.E. This is one aspect that I struggled with when teaching P.E.; getting and keeping the interest, motivation, participation, from all students.
